Well 2020! It came and we were ready then COVID hit!
Unfortunately for the club we deemed it unsafe to hold any shows. This is so sad as we
were planning a celebration as the club was 45 years old. Never mind ay.
The coming season is also uncertain as we just don’t know what is going to happen. I
do know that after several attacks of vandalism at the ground, it’s going to take a lot of
work to get the field safe and ready for a show.
Shaun the sheep made an appearance along with 60 of his friends! After a week of
trying to round them up some of our committee felt like Collies! BUT with the help of the
owner we eventually, on day 7, got them all loaded up! Even the police were involved
which caused quite a bit of amusement on Facebook.
On a dreadfully sad note, we lost one of our favourite stalwart committee members Pete.
Pete had been bravely battling cancer for a while. He continued to come to the shows
and meetings throughout 2019 and even came to cast his eye over the sheep! Pete and
Gina were married before he passed away and we very much hope that Gina Jackson
will continue to be a part of our club. They have run the clear round ring for many years
and many children have risen up through the stages after starting out with Pete’s help. I
wish I could have given Gina a hug but sadly this wasn’t possible. We hope that in the
coming months we can see our friends again.
As we are back in Lockdown for at least six weeks, we won’t know what we can do until
later in the Spring. There is so much to do at the ground, and we will need help. Also
we desperately need some new blood on our committee to help and to throw new ideas
into the mix.
We are a friendly bunch and ideas are voted on, as a committee should do. We have
dinner while we have meetings and I hope we will be able to continue that as it builds
friendships and teamwork. If anyone would be interested please get in touch with any of
