Soar Valley Committee Annual Reports

Chairmans/secretaries Report

January 2022

Dear Member

Reflecting - 2021 Season

This season I think has been one of the hardest seasons the club has had. Covid still here and many people just not wanting to take the risk of competing.

Dressage

This has taken a massive downward slide this season and to the point we had to cancel it several times. The dressage judges have to be paid and we just didn’t get the entries to run.

It’s a massive disappointment to us but many people have simply moved onto bigger and better.

Showjumping

Quite good entries in most of the classes and some really good riders coming on for the future. This ring will mostly stay the same we may alter a few things.

Showing

This is usually the busiest ring but it was very slow in some classes and no entries in others.

We are disappointed as we try to hold a good range of classes, hopefully people will feel happier about coming if restrictions are lifted a little.

Working hunter

This is also suffering from lack of entries, we have struggled with this ring for a couple of years and we will possibly try for one more season

Stars

We sent a small number of you up to Aintree! And my word you all did our little club proud. Some fantastic riding and handling, don’t forget there were 60 clubs taking part and some/most classes had at least 44 competitors so you all did amazingly well and we even had some very good places from you too so Thank you all.

Looking Forward - 2022 Season

Next season 2022 we will be adding and taking away classes depending on the survey results. We desperately need your support to continue, this season we haven't made enough money at the shows to cover all the out going payments like Judges, insurance, rent, toilet hire, rosettes, equipment etc etc.

We really need a good season to enable us to continue for following seasons, if we don’t get support then 2022 could be the last and after 47yrs of the club running that would be an immense shame.

Well that’s all for now but please keep an eye on Facebook and the website www.svrc.co.uk for all the news and updates.

We do have a new secretary this year and things will change regarding membership and entering but please bear with us whilst we get up and running.

Thanks for reading,

See you all very soon

Emma
